ECP issues notice to federal minister for violating code

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notice to Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi on Tuesday for participating in a meeting related to by-election for chairman Tehsil Havelianabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Abbottabad District Monitoring Officer (DMO) ordered Murtaza Javed Abbasi to appear before him by today afternoon.

The DMO instructed the federal minister to appear in the District Monitoring Officer's office and give an explanation for attending the meeting in Peshawar.

The DMO warned in the notice that Murtaza Javed Abbasi violated Para 16 of ECP Code of Conduct.

The DMO further mentioned in the notice that any person holding a public office cannot campaign for a candidate or announce or inaugurate any development scheme in connection with the Peshawar election campaign.
