On the instructions of DIG Investigation Imran Kishwar, Civil Lines Division Gender-Based Violence Cell Police in Lahore have arrested a man who tried to rape a 10-year-old girl, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

In-charge Gender Cell Civil Lines Division Meena Ghulam Muhammad has said the girl had gone to her neighbours’ home to fetch a cellphone charger when Rashid Mushtaq, the suspect, grabbed her and tried to rape her. “However, when the child raised an alarm, the man fled from the spot,” the official has said, adding, “The man was arrested with the help of latest technology and information provided by different persons.”

SSP Investigation Dr. Anush Masood, on the other hand, has said that those harassing women and children deserve no mercy.

The SSP has vowed to bring the culprit to justice through joint efforts by the police and prosecution.
