Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Wednesday that he would continue to serve as chief executive of the country’s largest province until elections were held, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking to the media during his visit to the Services Hospital in Lahore, the chief minister said it was true that right now there was a state of despair in the country. “But losing hope is a sin,” he said, adding, “The Almighty Allah strongly dislikes despair,” he said, and stressed the need for contributing, however little, to make things better in the society.

He said he was appalled to see the condition of the hospital. “It is true that the hospital is really in a bad state for which the government is responsible,” he admitted.

CM Naqvi said government hospitals had to cope with a large number of patients. “But despite limited resources, the government is providing facilities at these hospitals,” he added.

He went on to say it was unfortunate that every government built new hospitals and forgot to improve the condition of the old ones.

The chief minister said he did not think holding doctors responsible for all the problems was a right approach.

He asked the people to assist the government in raising standards of hospitals.

CM Naqvi said he was not opposed to doctors’ private practice. “But at the same time, they should make it sure that they complete their duty hours,” he emphasized.

He vowed that he would improve the condition of hospitals before leaving the office. “And I hope that very soon the condition of Services Hospital will also become better,” he concluded.

Earlier, he went round different sections of the hospital.

He inaugurated the hospital’s upgraded medical unit-I.

Dr. Salman Habib, Dr. Adeel Qureshi, Dr. Mehmoodul Hassan, Dr. Atif Majeed, Dr. Mudassir, Dr. Hafiz Mehmood, Dr. Umair, Dr. Rashid and Dr. Javed were also present on the occasion.
