A plea for re-registration of the Al-Qadir University Trust has been filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The plea had been filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, former first lady Bushra Bibi and the executive director of the trust.
The plea pleaded with the court to order the re-registration of the Al-Qadir Trust. It also pleaded with the court to declare the delay by the Directorate of Labour and Industry illegal.
The plea demanded that the court restrained the parties from obstructing the activities of Al-Qadir Trust.
It also demanded that the trust be allowed to continue functioning till the registration and judgment of the High Court.
The plea stated that the Al-Qadir University Trust had been registered under the Trust Act of 1982, adding that the Act of 1982 had been repealed after Islamabad Trust Act 2020.
“The trust, which was already registered, was to be re-registered after the enactment of the new Act. On February 22, a plea was filed to the Labour and Industry Directorate for the registration of the trust,” it added.
“The act was not very clear regarding re-registration immediately after its enactment. Pleas had been filed from October 2022 to March 2023, but no action was taken,” it stated.
“For the re-registration, it was asked verbally to prepare a new trust deed again. A trust deed was prepared and submitted on April 30, 2023, but no action was taken,” it claimed.
