The negotiating committee formed by former premier and PTI Chairman Imran Khan for holding talks with powers-that-be fell apart as its members from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have refused to work, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Friday.
According to sources, the committee members hailing from the KP have refused to work, thus dissociating themselves from being part of the negotiating team.
Sources said that team member Asad Qaiser detached himself from the committee, while Pervez Khattak resigned from the party position yesterday.
Another member of the committee, Murad Saeed, is in hiding to avoid his arrest.
The KP government has formed a special committee to arrest Saeed.
Yesterday, there was a rumour that Asad Qaiser and Khattak went missing on Thursday after they went to meet someone at an undisclosed location. However, later on Thursday night, PTI provincial president Pervez Khattak appeared before the media and announced he was resigning his party position.
Pervez Khattak, who also served as defence minister during the tenure of PTI, said that no one was happy with May 9 violence.
On May 27, PTI Chairman Imran Khan constituted a seven-member committee to hold talks with the government. The committee included senior vice president Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pervez Khattak, Asad Qaisar, Haleem Adil Sheikh, Aon Abbas Buppi, Murad Saeed, and Hammad Azhar.
