Sending heart emojis to girls in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia can now land you in jail! They’ve become a big deal to the authorities now and they’re cracking down on online expressions of affection.

No more sending heart emojis to women on WhatsApp or other platforms.

Consequences

In Kuwait, a prominent lawyer named Haya Al Shalahi explained that sending a heart emoji to a woman is now considered an “incitement to debauchery.” And the punishment? Well, it could mean up to two years in jail and a fine of 2,000 Kuwaiti dinars.

But wait, it’s not just Kuwait – Saudi Arabia is also joining the crackdown on all lovey-dovey emojis. In their view, sending a ‘red heart’ emoji via WhatsApp is no laughing matter. It could lead to serious penalties like a prison sentence of two to five years and a fine of 100,000 Saudi riyals.

Reactions

In response to the uproar surrounding the strict measures on heart emojis, some individuals in both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have also voiced concerns about the potential overreach of these laws and the infringement on personal freedoms.

Critics argue that emojis are simply harmless expressions of emotions and affection, and criminalizing them seems excessive and disproportionate. They fear that such restrictions could stifle freedom of expression and lead to a chilling effect on online communication. As debates continue to unfold, social media users in these countries are becoming more cautious about their online interactions,

So, next time you want to show some love online, better think twice in these countries! Hearts might be cute, but they’re not worth risking jail time!
