Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Maryam Nawaz visited the Lahore General Hospital to enquire after violence victim Rizwana.

Maryam Nawaz was briefed about her condition. As Maryam Nawaz asked the doctors if Rizwana started eating food, the 14-year-old torture victim appealed to the PML-N leader to bring the culprit to book.

Her voice was shaking as she shared the story of the brutal torture she endured for six months while working as a maid at the house of a civil judge in the federal capital.

As Maryam Nawaz vowed to bring to book the culprit, Rizwana said her arms and teeth were broken with sticks while her head was hit into the wall

She added her master threatened her to throw down from the third floor if she tells anyone about the atrocious acts.

Maryam Nawaz talked to the mother of Rizwana too and assured her of all-out support.

She came down hard on the ‘weak’ system saying that weak people cannot get justice in such a system. The accused of brutality got bail by taking advance of loopholes, she added.

Ten days ago, Rizwana was brought to LHG from Sargodha District Headquarters Hospital as her condition was so critical.

In a media briefing yesterday, the Principal of Post Graduate Medical Institute Prof Dr Muhammad Alfred said the condition of Rizwana is improving but she has not come out of the critical phase.

He praised the team of medics looking after her, saying their untiring efforts are bearing fruit. According to him, Rizwana asked for food and said she wanted to go home. The psychological condition is also fine, he said.

He added right arm surgery will be possible after the infection is controlled but due to infection in the lungs, breathing is sometimes difficult which sometimes makes the situation alarming. Moreover, the doctor said the infection in Rizwana's blood, and her body organs were affected and after the infection is controlled, surgery on the right arm will be possible.

There are problems with internal organs like lungs and heart, he said adding that doctors have done bronchoscopy of the injured girl twice and cannot do any more bronchoscopy. She is also being given blood and if the process of improvement in health continues for three to four days, she will enter the recovery phase, he added.
