Lahore High Court (LHC) Saturday suspended the process of appointment of vice-chancellors of Punjab University and other universities of the province till June 27, reported the 24NewHD TV channel.

According to the sources, the court order was pronounced by Justice Shahid Karim on a petition filed by a citizen Raja Ali Raz.  The court issued an injunction till June 27 and sought a response from the caretaker government and other parties.

Earlier, the appointment of the vice-chancellors of 24 public sector universities by the caretaker provincial government was challenged in a writ petition.

The petition was filed by a citizen, Altaf Younas, who contended that the caretaker government could not appoint regular VCs of the universities.
