May 9 riots: Court grants physical remand of 13 women

An Anti-Terrorism Court of Lahore has approved 5-day physical remand against 13 women who have allegedly been involved in attacking the Lahore Corps Commander House during the May 9 mayhem.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, ATC Judge Abhar Gul Khan on Saturday conducted the hearing of a case related to the attack and arson of the Lahore Corpse Commander House.

Earlier, the court reserved its decision on the physical remand plea sought by the Lahore police against 13 women.

Later, the court granted five-day physical remand against Khadija Shah, Sanam Javed, Alia Hamza, and 10 other women. These women are in the custody of Lahore police for their alleged involvement in the attack at Jinnah House.

According to the court’s directions, the women will remain in police custody for interrogation from sunrise to sunset. After sunset, the women will be kept in judicial custody, the court added.

 On completion of physical remand, the 13 women will be produced before the court on June 8.

According to the initial reports, the Lahore Police has prepared a list of over 300 women linked to vandalism and arson at Jinnah House during the May 9th protests which erupted as a result of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest.

Recently, the Punjab government has released the details of the women arrested in the May 9 incidents. A total of 32 women were arrested in the May 9 incidents. Out of 32 women arrested and involved in terrorist incidents, 21 have been released. Currently, 11 women are imprisoned in Punjab jails on judicial remand.
