    Weekly inflation up by 1.30 %: PBS

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has a weekly report on inflation registering another increase in inflation by 1.30 percent, the 24News HD TV channel reported on Friday.

The overall rate of inflation in the country was recorded at 29.83 percent by PBS.

According to the data issued by PBS, out of the 51 monitored items during the week, the average price of 27 items (45.10%) increased, 07 items (13.72%) decreased whereas 21 items (41.18%) registered no change during the week.

 The year-on-year trend depicts an increase of 29.83%, Wheat Flour (131.40%), Cigarettes (109.57%), Gas Charges for Q1 (108.38%), Tea Lipton (97.71%), Rice Basmati Broken (82.86%), Rice Irri-6/9 (72.73%),

Tomatoes (67.54%), Chilies Powder (66.74%), Sugar (64.12%), Chicken (60.51%), Gents Sponge Chappal (58.05%), Gur (57.75%) and Potatoes (55.75%), while a decrease is observed in the prices of Onions (37.10%),

Electricity for Q1 (18.06%), Pulse Masoor (15.07%), and Vegetable Ghee 1 kg (1.13%).

In other words, the price of tomato has increased by Rs 20.3 per kg during the last week.

LPG domestic cylinder price increased by Rs 255. 37.

The Bureau of Statistics further stated that ground red chili of 200-gram packing has increased by Rs 25.25.  

In a week, garlic has become expensive by Rs 20.97 per kg.

Likewise, onion has increased by Rs 3.9 per kg, and eggs per dozen are increased by 10.55.

The price of basmati broken rice (short grain) increased by Rs 4. 47 per kg. and jaggery per kg has increased by Rs 3.45. Dal mash sees an increase of Rs 5. 87 and potato Rs 0.54 per kg during the last week.

The people also found an increase in mutton and beef by Rs 1.86 and Rs 2.74 per kg respectively.

The prices of bananas, milk, curd, and sugar have also witnessed an increase in prices.

Contrary to these, chicken life has been reduced by Rs 5.82 per kg and edible ghee of a 2.5 kg tin packing has become cheaper by Rs 5.18.

A bag of 20 kg flour has become cheaper by Rs 5.79, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics concludes.
