CM Naqvi shows door to MS of Jinnah Hospital for poor performance

Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has suspended Jinnah Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr. Amjad Mahmood for poor service delivery at the public healthcare facility, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to the sources, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the hospital and inspected health facilities being provided in various units including Trauma Center, Unit -5, Burn Unit, and Dialysis Centre, He also inspected laundry and Mehman Khana (guest house).
Mohsin Naqvi remained in the Jinnah Hospital for three hours.
The CM visited the children's OPD, surgical units, angiography room, Endocrinology Center, CCU, and other departments. He inspected private rooms, the free medicine counter, and the health counter.
During his visit to the trauma center and medical units, he inquired about the well-being of patients.
He also asked about the treatment facilities of patients from their attendants.
On this occasion, patients and their family members piled heaps of complaints to the Punjab Chief Minister against poor facilities being offered to them.
A dozen of people said that they are not getting any kind of medicines from the hospital and they are forced to buy the drugs from the market. The patients also told the CM that they are asked to go to private laboratories for their tests.
Some people filed complaints about the poor sanitation and others said that the ACs of the units are dysfunctional. They said that there is no drinking water in the hospital.
Chief Minister expressed his displeasure over not getting better facilities for the patients and directed to suspend the medical superintendent.
Syed Mohsin Naqvi assured the patients to address their grievances immediately.
He also sought a reply from Allama Iqbal Medical College’s Principal within 3 days.
He took strict notice of the senior professors’ absence in the Jinnah Hospital and passed an order to hold an immediate inquiry.
He also canceled the parking contract for overcharging and ordered to give the contract to Lahore Parking Company.
Provincial Ministers Aamir Mir and Dr. Javed Akram were also accompanying the chief minister.
The CM said that he is doing his level best to ensure the best health facilities for the patients during his short stint in the office. “No patient has to suffer in the hospital, the Chief Minister directed to the hospital administration. He warned that violators will be dealt with an iron hand.
Chief Minister Punjab also visited Sheikh Ejaz Trust Dialysis Centre in the company of Board of Management Allama Iqbal Medical College Chairman Gohar Ijaz.
The CM inquired the patients about the facilities being provided to them.
Patients expressed their pleasure and said that they never faced any problems during dialysis.
The C M appreciated the Board of Management Chairman Gohar Ijaz for the excellent facilities provided to the patients. “We will provide full support to whoever works for the betterment of the hospital,” he added.
Gohar Ijaz while briefing the Chief Minister of Punjab, said that they are bringing the world's latest kidney transplant system. Naqvi also visited the laundry and basement of the hospital.
While seeing the dilapidated condition of the hospital's laundry, he expressed his anger and directed the chairman to call a board meeting tomorrow to improve it immediately.
On the accumulation of water in the basement, Lahore Commissioner was instructed to improve the water drainage system immediately.
Chief Minister also visited burn-unit and OPDs in order to provide better treatment facilities to the patients.
