ECP asks political parties to submit assets details by Aug 29

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) asked the political parties to submit their statement of accounts for the financial year 2022-2023, reported 24NewsHD TV channel..

The ECP directed the political parties to submit the details by August 29, including income, expenses, obligations, and funding sources.

Furthermore, the ECP stated that political parties should also submit details of accounts' audits and chartered accountants' reports. As per the ECP, it is also mandatory to provide certificates regarding abstaining from receiving funds from prohibited sources.

Earlier, the ECP directed political parties to submit their applications for the allotment of election symbols ahead of the general elections.

The electoral watchdog had stated that up until July 19, applications can be submitted with the party leader's signature.

The ECP instructed the parties to include a list of the symbols they prioritise with their applications, saying the party leader's signature is required.
