Admitting the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) petition against the approval of bail of Saira Anwar, co-suspect in a money laundering case against former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, for hearing, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued a notice to the defendant, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.   

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry, issued the notice.

The FIA, on February 13, 2023, had registered a case against Saira on the charge of accumulating assets beyond her known sources of income.

Saira, a designer, could not satisfy the authorities about her sources of income.

According to the FIR, Saira has 10 accounts in different banks.

According to details, she deposited Rs17.5 million in a bank, while she bought several properties during the last six months.

It is pertinent to mention here that the move by FIA came after last month’s action when the federal agency added the names of nine people, including Elahi’s sons Moonis Elahi and Rasikh Elahi to the Exit Control List (ECL).
