Two prisoners on Tuesday escaped from police custody at the sessions court premises where they had been taken for trial in Sukkur, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to details, two prisoners identified Ghulam Mustafa Bhatti and Abdul Shakur Bhatti, were brought from Central Jail Sukkur to the court for the hearing of the cases registered against them.

The police sources said that as soon as they got a chance, both the prisoners escaped from the lock-up of the Sessions Court.

However, the police succeeded in re-arresting a prisoner, Abdul Shakur.

The other prisoner Ghulam Mustafa Bhatti is still absconding.

Ghulam Mustafa Bhatti was arrested by the Sukkar police a month ago in a case of possession of illegal arms.

A month ago, Abdul Shakur was arrested in a drug case and sent to jail.

Jail authorities confirmed the escape of both prisoners.

Jail Superintendent Shahab Siddiqui said that the prisoners are sent to court under the security of the district police.
