The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman has been transferred to Attock Jail instead of Adiala Jail, sources said on Saturday.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the insiders said the ex-prime minister has been moved to the prison in tight security.
A heavy contingent of police and elite force is posted outside the jail while all the routes leading to the Attock jail have also been blocked, the sources said.
They added the media personnel have also been refrained from visiting the area in and around the jail. They said the PTI chief will underwent a medical checkup in the jail and the federal government constituted a four-member medical board for the purpose.
According to the notification, Dr Faridullah Shah will be the board chief while its member are Dr Mamoon Qadir, Dr Muhammad Akhtar and Imtiaz Ahmed.
The PTI chief was arrested from his Zaman Park residence after a district and sessions court in Islamabad found him guilty and sentenced him to three-year jail. The court also disqualified him from politics for five years in the Toshakhana case.
