Punjab govt okays upgradation of Lahore Zoo, Safari Park

Approves to build zoos in Gujranwala and Faisalabad

The Punjab government has decided to upgrade the Lahore Zoo and Safari Park to meet international standards, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting chaired by caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi here on Saturday.

The meeting announced to erect zoos in Gujranwala and Faisalabad.

The meeting also decided to introduce an E-Ticketing System for entry into the zoos.

On the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi directed to introduce family package, summer package, and other packages in Lahore Zoo for the people.

The meeting approved bringing more than 146 new animals to Lahore Zoo.

Elephants will be imported from Sri Lanka, Kangaroos from Australia, and Pandas from China, it was decided in the meeting.  “New animals will also be brought from other countries.”

The meeting okayed erecting modern cages for the animals in the zoo.

It approved the construction of world-class cages for tigers, leopards, bears, and bears. The meeting headed by the Punjab Chief Minister recommended starting a Night Safari in Lahore Safari Park. According to the approval, an African Desert Safari will be introduced at the Safari Zoo while 142 species of marine life will also be kept in the aquarium at the Safari Park.

During the meeting, caretaker CM Naqvi emphasized increasing the number of animals in the Safari Park.

A bird safari will be made on the hilltop of Lahore Zoo.  

The Chief Minister called for a plan for the upgradation of Jallo Park and Changa Manga Zoo.

The meeting also gave its node to establish a Safari Zoo on 54 acres of land on Kaleem Shaheed Road in Faisalabad.

A Committee has been formed for the establishment of a zoo in Gujranwala. Provincial Minister Bilal Afzal will be the head of the committee.
