Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders from Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Habibullah Kundi, and Irfan Kundi have become the latest who decided to quit the party, reported the24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, the former KP minister Habibullah and  Dera Ismael Khan PTI president Irfan Kundi condemned the May 9 incidents and in protest quit the party.

Habibullah Kundi said that he started his political career in 1985 and came to the parliament with the support of the people. “I was elected MPA on a non-party basis, he said adding he also won the 1990 election.

He recalled that he was with Muhammad Khan Junejo as long as he was alive, after which he contested as an independent candidate.  “Parvez Khattak approached him in 2018 and gave the PTI ticket,” he added.

Kundi said that he condemned the May 9 incident unequivocally, and therefore, he did not wish to remain in the PTI as the party did irreparable damage to the country. Kundi also cleared the air about leaving the PTI, saying that there was no pressure on him to quit the party.

He said that his political future was also uncertain due to his age factor.

Irfan Kundi said that he participated in the 2008 election on the ticket of PTI that was sent by Pervez Khattak.

He said that he selected the day to quit PTI as it is the martyrdom anniversary of Capt Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed.

“I hereby announce my resignation from my post as Dera Ismail Khan PTI president with a heavy heart as I am deeply saddened by the incident of May 9,” he remarked.

Irfab said the country is free and stable because of the sacrifices of the martyrs.

He said he also announced to quit the basic membership of the party.

“Every Pakistani is suffering from grief and anger over the incident of May 9 and We strongly condemn all these anti-state events, he said.

Irfan Kundi hinted that he did not decide whether to do politics as an independent or to go with Pervaiz Khattak.

He said the future plan will be announced after the consultation.

The manner in which the country's installations and martyrs' memorials were desecrated is condemnable, he said adding that Pakistan Army is the guarantor of Pakistan's security.
