The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Thursday apprehended the director of an Islamic Centre in Islamabad on charges of sexually harassing a woman, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The FIA Cybercrime Circle Abbottabad initiated the proceedings leading to the arrest of the suspect, Zahid Iqbal. The accused allegedly engaged in blackmailing and disseminating explicit photos and videos of the complainant.
It is reported that Zahid Iqbal shared indecent material through the messaging platform WhatsApp, using it as a medium to threaten the victim with the circulation of explicit images and videos. The accused deceitfully obtained objectionable content by feigning intentions to marry the woman.
The Islamic Centre, directed by the accused, is located in a prestigious area of Islamabad, adding to the shock and disbelief surrounding the allegations against Zahid Iqbal. A forensic analysis of the suspect's mobile phone has revealed several indecent videos of the victim, providing evidence of his involvement in the harassment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused had been subjecting the complainant to harassment for a period of nine months. Prior to his recent arrest, Zahid Iqbal had been released on a bail. He was arrested after the court rejected extension to his bail plea. A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Information Technology Crimes Act (PICA).
To carry out his blackmailing activities, the accused utilized multiple mobile SIM cards registered in his own name, as well as the names of relatives and others. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover any additional evidence and shed light on the full extent of the accused's actions.
