Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other members of the core committee expressed concern over the manner Imran Khan is being treated after his arrest, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the Islamabad Police was ordered to arrest the party chief but he was arrested by the Punjab Police. Moreover, he was to be imprisoned in the Adiala Jail but he is kept in the Attock jail in a 9 x 11 C class cell instead of the B class cell he has a legal right for.

The former PM did not receive the food that was sent to him. The board of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) kept waiting for Imran Khan as his checkup was scheduled but he was also not taken there. There is no doctor available in the Attock jail and a doctor would be on call from the District Headquarters Hospital when needed. This behavior is severely condemned by all the members of the core committee as getting a medical examination is the basic right of every accused and a responsibility on the jail authorities.

He said that Imran Khan’s legal team was also denied access to him. The lawyers kept trying to meet him yesterday and they are in the Attock jail today as well but they are not allowed to see him. He added that they have to appeal for Imran Khan’s release tomorrow and without his signatures, they cannot do so.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the party is concerned about the wellbeing and health of their chief. The party is suspicious of the food given to him in the jail. Shah Mahmood Qureshi demanded that the High judiciary takes notice of the issues and gives a verdict providing them with justice. The first priority of the core committee is Imran Khan’s wellbeing and his release.
