In two separate incidents, Lahore police have made unsettling discoveries, recovering two dead bodies within the metropolitan city, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.
The incidents have raised concerns among local residents, leading the authorities to initiate thorough investigations.
In the first case, a dead body was found floating in the Ravi River near Saggian Bridge. The swift response of rescue teams resulted in the recovery of the body, subsequently handed over to the police for further examination.
The unidentified body, belonging to a man estimated to be between 60 and 65 years old, bore visible signs of injury, as confirmed by the police. Given the advanced state of decomposition, the face of the deceased could not be identified. The body has been transferred to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination, while the police continue their investigation to establish the identity and uncover other relevant details.
Simultaneously, another grim discovery was made as a woman's lifeless body was found in a shelter near Thokar Niaz Baig. The deceased, identified as Rehana Kausar, a 40-year-old resident of Sadiqabad, appeared to have succumbed to natural causes, according to the preliminary assessment by the police.
Rehana, who relied on begging for survival, was accompanied by her 4-year-old son, Ali Haider. The body has been transferred to the mortuary at Jinnah Hospital, and the authorities have notified the deceased's family. A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Rehana's death.
