The transfer fee of motorcycles and cars has been increased by over 200 percent, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The transfer fee of motorcycle has been increased from Rs150 to Rs500 while that of 1,000cc car and rickshaw from Rs1,200 to Rs2,500.

The transfer fee of 1800 cc vehicle has been increased from Rs2,000 to Rs5,000 while that of the vehicles above 1800cc from Rs3,000 to Rs10,000.

The transfer fee of commercial vehicles has been increased from Rs4,000 to Rs5,000. The transfer fee of motorcycles and cars have been increased after 20 years.

Private vehicles with eight or more seats will be charged a token tax according to cubic centimeters (cc).

The registration fee of vehicles between 1500cc and 2,000cc has been reduced from three to two percent.

Withholding tax on luxury vehicles has been imposed in three categories from 6 to 30 percent of the original price.

Withholding tax on vehicles between 2,000cc to 2,500cc has been fixed at six percent for filers and at 18 percent for non-filers.

Withholding tax on vehicles between 2,500cc to 3,000cc has been fixed at eight percent for filers and at 24 percent for non-filers.

Withholding tax on vehicles over 3,000cc has been fixed at 10 percent for filers and at 20 percent for non-filers.

The increase in withholding tax has led to an increase of hundreds of thousands of rupees in the registration of large vehicles.
