Balochistan National Party (Mengal) leader and former provincial assembly member Mir Hamal Kalmati has emerged as a hot favorite for the coveted slot of Balochistan Chief Minister, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday. 

The sources claimed that Mir is likely to be sovereign as Caretaker CM for Pakistan’s largest province Balochistan by The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

As per the reports, the five-year constitutional term of the Balochistan Assembly is about to be completed. The consultation on the selection of the Chief Minister in the caretaker setup is still going on.

The name of Mir Hamal Kalmati is being taken as caretaker chief minister in an unofficial manner. Mir Hamal Kalmati belongs to the BNP Mengal group. It is believed that Hamal Kalmati has the support of the Balochistan Awami Party too.

 The name of Engineer Mohammad Usman Badaini of Nushki is being suggested by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.

Other names who are believed to be in the race are Ejaz Sanjrani, Asif Durrani, Mir Naseer Bizenjo and Shabbir Mengal.
