A controversy arose over the attempt to forcefully send the Chairman of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), Dr Shahid Baig on leave by officers of the Science and Technology Ministry, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

Allegedly, at the behest of the minister, the officers of the Ministry of Science stormed the Science Foundation and a violent clash erupted between them and the foundation staff

According to the ministry, the foundation chairman has been removed but he refused to accept the orders while the foundation officials said the secretary has no authority to remove the chairman. They said that just the PM has authority to appoint any officer to a grade-22 post while appointing any officers of grade 20 against the post of grade-22 is illegal.
