In a deeply distressing incident, a medical student in Pano Aqil tragically took his own life by setting himself on fire after facing rejection in a marriage proposal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.

The young man, identified as Kashif Chana, a second-year medical student, sustained severe burns and, despite undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gambit, sadly succumbed to his injuries.

According to sources, Kashif Chana resorted to such a desperate act due to his parents' disapproval of the marriage of his choice. The young man had expressed his desire to marry a specific individual, but faced rejection from his parents, leading to feelings of despair and hopelessness.

The severity of the incident is evident as approximately 70 percent of Kashif Chana's body was burned. Despite the medical interventions and efforts made by the healthcare professionals at the Gambit hospital, his injuries proved fatal.

Following the necessary legal procedures, the body of the deceased was transferred to the Taluka Hospital in Pano Aqil. The authorities ensured the completion of formalities before handing over the remains to the bereaved family to proceed with the last rites.

This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the emotional turmoil individuals may experience when facing societal and familial pressures. Mental health challenges, such as those arising from the distress caused by familial disapproval, underscore the need for increased awareness and support systems to address such issues.
