56th death anniversary of Mader-e-Millat Fatima Jinnah being observed today

The 56th death anniversary of Mader-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah is being observed today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Born on July 31, 1893 in Karachi, Fatima was the youngest of all seven siblings.
In 1919, she got admission in the University of Calcutta which was no small feat.
She studied dentistry there, and became the first Muslim woman of India to have opened her dental clinic.
And after the death of Ratan Bai, wife of her brother Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in 1929, the entire responsibility to look after her brother now rested on her shoulders.
Fatima stood shoulder to shoulder with her brother Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah during the Pakistan movement as she could be seen accompanying him at every public gathering and rally.
She encouraged other Indian women to participate in politics.
Being sister of the Quaid was not her only distinction as she was also a politician and an activist.
After the creation of Pakistan, she devoted her life to the development and prosperity of the country.
She penned down a book ‘My Brother’ in 1955, and in 1965 she was a presidential candidate

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday paid tributes to Madr-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah on her 56th death anniversary.
The prime minister said that she was a benefactor of the nation and had been a source of courage for Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
“Despite her senility, she stood firm against dictatorship and played a historic role for the nation, democracy and the country,” he added.
The prime minister said Miss Fatima also played an unprecedented role during the Pakistan Movement.
He said that the personality of Mader-e-Millat was still a beacon of light for the young ladies and women of the country.
The entire nation paid tributes to her contributions and would always stand indebted to her services, he added.
