The demand for the world’s first saliva-based pregnancy testing kit “SaliStick” has increased in the United Kingdom market, a media report said.
According to the report, this revolutionary pregnancy testing kit is made by an Israeli firm and has been launched in UK and Ireland last week after conducting clinical trials in Israel on more than 300 women - both pregnant and non-pregnant.
The product named SaliStick is based on the technology used to make Covid testing kits.
It is now widely available on store shelves in the United Kingdom and Ireland, marking an important step forward in the advancement of pregnancy detection tools.
This product allows women to confirm pregnancy using only a saliva sample.
SaliStick is an alternative to traditional urine-based pregnancy tests. It uses saliva instead of urine, which makes it more convenient to use. This test has an accuracy rate of about 97 percent, meaning it is very reliable.
The innovative' spit test' is seen as a game changer in the field of home pregnancy testing, providing women with a new degree of convenience and privacy.
This new method allows women to take the test anywhere and at any time.
For the test to work, a woman must place a foam-tipped stick from the kit in her mouth for a few moments, like a thermometer. This collects a sample of saliva.
She will then transfer it to a plastic tube, where a biochemical reaction takes place and the result can be read within five to 15 minutes.
