Quetta Road, the national inter-provincial highway connecting Balochistan to Punjab, has been blocked due to a landslide caused by heavy rains, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Thousands of travelers are stranded in Rakhi Gaj area due to the blockage of the road.

Long queues of vehicles were witnessed on the road on either side of the landslide.

The travelers had to face a great deal of inconvenience, for the mobile network was suspended and there was also a lack of food and water amid the blockage of the road.

Commercial activities from Balochistan to Punjab were also suspended due to the road blockage.

The supply of vegetables and fruits from Balochistan to Punjab was also suspended.

Work to clear the road with the help of heavy machinery is underway.

According to the political assistant, the road has been cleared enough for the small vehicles to pass.

“The road will be fully cleared soon,” he said.
