The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has fined Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Rs5.2 million and other private and foreign airlines Rs6 million for late delivery of passengers’ luggage, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

A total of 13 flights were fined for late delivery of passengers’ luggage at Karachi Airport.

Most of the cases of late delivery of passengers’ luggage took place at Islamabad Airport. As many as 517 flights were fined at Islamabad Airport over the past six months.

As many as 473 flights were issued warnings for late delivery of baggage due to the lack of loaders. At Lahore Airport, three flights were issued warnings over delayed delivery of luggage.

It is to be noted here that the CAA has set a time limit of 45 minutes for offloading passengers’ luggage.

A time limit of 50 minutes has been set for offloading passengers’ luggage from a Boeing aircraft.

The number of Hajj flights is the highest among the delayed flights. They were delayed due to the excess baggage. The staff shortage at airports was also the reason behind the late delivery of passengers’ luggage.
