In response to recent acts of terrorism and heightened regional tensions, Afghan Supreme Leader Sheikh Haibatullah Akhundzada Thursday issued a Fatawa (Decree) and strict orders aimed at curbing cross-border attacks and militancy in Pakistan from Afghanistan.
The Supreme Leader's Fatawa made a strict prohibition of Afghan citizens and members of the Afghan Transitional Government from engaging in jihad and militancy beyond the borders of Afghanistan.
Sheikh Haibatullah Akhundzada underscored in the orders that those who venture into Pakistan for militant activities will not be deemed martyrs in the event of their demise.
Instead, their deaths will be characterized as 'impure', he said adding that any individuals found to be in violation of these directives will face the removal of their affiliation with the Afghan Transitional Government.
Furthermore, the Afghan government has made it clear that it will not send representatives to attend the funerals of Afghan citizens who perish in Pakistan as a result of their involvement in militancy and external conflicts.
To reinforce these measures, Defense Minister Mulla Yaqub visited the Ministry of Defense on August 5, 2023, and issued unambiguous instructions to ensure that Afghan nationals abstain from participating in any wars outside of Afghanistan's borders.
Minister Yaqub also made it unequivocally clear that the mandates set forth by Afghan Supreme Leader Sheikh Haibatullah Akhundzada are to be strictly adhered to.
