What is being described as a precedent, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday declared increase in the fees of private medical colleges during the study programme ‘illegal’, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Pronouncing its decision on several petitions of an identical nature, the single bench of the high court also declared increase in tuition fees and other charges during the academic year ‘illegal’.

The LHC also ordered the registrar to submit report on the decision’s implementation to the deputy registrar within 45 days.

Making an observation that it was hard for citizens to understand some important court’s decisions concerning basic human rights because these were in English language, the LHC ordered sending recommendations for the translation of its verdicts into Urdu to the LHC chief justice. 

However, the high court, in its decision, decreed that Urdu translation should be done with the consent of the judge.
