The spokesperson for Ghazi University Thursday rejected the rumour about the resignation of 19 professors, stating that none of the university professors had resigned, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“Some professors released video messages to protect the professors involved in the sexual harassment case. These are just tactics to pressurise the university administration,” he said.

“The purpose of the fake press release about the resignations of professors is to tarnish the reputation of the university administration,” he added.

Two days back, an alleged case of sexual abuse of a female student by two professors of Ghazi University in Dera Ghazi Khan came to the fore.

Gadai police registered a case against two professors and a student following the complaint of the victim.

The Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) also took notice of the scandal and ordered decisive action to ensure justice.

The victim, Sana Irshad, a student of Ghazi University, told the police that her classmate, Tahira Lal, had invited her to a private hostel on the pretext of aiding her examination scores.

The situation, however, took a dark turn when Dr Khalid Khattak allegedly rendered Sana unconscious using a potent substance. Subsequently, Dr Zafar Wazir purportedly subjected the young woman to sexual assault throughout the night.

Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar took notice of the victim’s video statement circulating on social media and directed Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Hasan Afzal to lead an investigation into the matter.
