Detained President of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi appealed to the Lahore High Court (LHC) to release him like his party Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, LHC Justice Muhammad Amjad Rafique heard the appeal of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi for providing B-class facilities in Camp Jail Lahore.
The authorities produced Elahi in the LHC on the court's orders while AIG Judicial Jail Dr Qadira Alam and Camp Jail Superintendent Zaheer Ahmad Virk also appeared in the court.
Justice Amjad asked the detainee what is your problem there in the jail. Replying to it, Elahi told the judge that there are many problems and he was not provided B-class facilities in the camp jail.
Elahi also told the judge that the jail authorities initially provided facilities and then withdrew despite the fact that he was ill.
The detainee appealed to the judge that he was sick so give him the facility of a doctor and issue an order to shift him to Services Hospital for treatment.
On this, Justice Amjad asked what can be ordered for him apart from that [giving B-class facilities and shifting hospital].
Pervaiz Elahi in a light mood answered and said, "Give me bail like Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Chairman PTI" which made laughter in the court.
Anyhow, the court told to Elahi that his cases will be heard one by one.
Justice Amjad also asked Elahi that do you have AC in the jail, on it, Elahi replied negatively and said the jail authorities have also taken the facility of fan from his room.
Opposing the statement of Pervaiz Elahi in the court, the Advocate of the Government of Punjab told the judge that the prisoner has been given all the facilities given in the rules including B-class facilities and he can show the photos of these facilities provided to him.
On this, Elahi told the court that after taking the pictures, objects are taken back.
On this occasion, Elahi's lawyer Amir Saeed Raan also told the court that the lawyers are not allowed to meet for one and a half months with the client.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing of the case till tomorrow and summoned the Additional Chief Secretary and IG Jails for tomorrow.
