The Lahore High Court has rejected petitions challenging the formation of a Joint Investigation Team probing cases of vandalism and attacks on police by political workers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Justice Muhammad Amjad Rafique announced the reserved verdict on Monday on a set of petitions filed by the political leaders challenging the formation of the JIT.

The 28-page verdict was issued by a three-judge bench of the high court.

According to the court ruling, the government has formed the JIT as per the law. Though the petitions are admissible, but the court could not provide the ‘relief’ which has been sought by the petitioners.

The judgement, however, said that the petitioner could move individually to the trial court regarding the application of terrorism sections.
