Following Pakistan's poor performance in the T20 World Cup, former cricketers Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq have been relieved of their duties as members of the National Cricket Team Selection Committee, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to sources, the decision comes in the wake of Pakistan's disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup, prompting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to review its strategies and personnel involved in the selection process.

The exact reasons behind the removal of Riaz and Razzaq have not been officially disclosed, but sources indicated that the need for a fresh perspective and new ideas was a driving factor.

Both players are currently part of the Pakistan Legend team that are on the top of the World Championship of Legends 2024 points table.

Wahab Riaz was also the senior manager of the national team during the T20 World Cup 2024.

It is pertinent that Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq are still part of the selection committee and their continued involvement suggests that the PCB still values their input and expertise in the selection process.
