Pak Army declares Friday as ‘Dry Day’

June 10, 2022 09:56 PM

The Armed Forces once again made a big decision to stabilize the economy and declared Friday a ‘Dry Day’ for the entire army as no transport will run except in emergency on the day.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, to stabilize the economy, the armed forces have made major decisions, including reducing their general spending in various areas especially imposing cuts on the utility bills, and usage of petrol and diesel.
The Pak Army has decided that instead of going to remote areas for large combat and training exercises, now will conduct small-scale training exercises near the cantonments.
It has also been decided to work online for conferences and other important issues using technology and reduction of unnecessary mobility which will save the national exchequer.
A number of agreements have been executed in local currency for the purchase of military equipment in order to save foreign exchange reserves from the Pak army.
In addition, the Pakistan Army saved Rs6 billion from the amount allocated in the head of the coronavirus in the last financial year and returned it to the government.
At the same time, the Pak army saved about Rs3.5 billion from the amount allocated in the previous budget for the purchase of military equipment and return it to the national treasury.
This year's defence budget is about 16 per cent of the total budget 2022-23. In terms of direct and indirect taxes and duties, the Pakistan Army and its welfare agencies have also deposited a whopping Rs935 billion in the national treasury in the last five years.
