Another Congo virus patient dies in Karachi

Another Congo fever patient from Balochistan breathed his last in Karachi on Friday, bringing the death toll from the fever during the last few days to three, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The 35-year-old patient was admitted to the special Congo Ward at the Sindh Institute of Infectious Diseases Hospital.
The patient was admitted to the hospital Friday morning in critical condition and doctors also put him on a ventilator straight away.
The patient was also experiencing severe difficulty in breathing which could not be relieved.
This was the third fatality from the fever as two patients brought in Karachi from Balochistan had already died during the last few days.
Situation of Congo virus is alarming in Karachi as well after Baluchistan as the number of people affected by the feven has increased to 17 now.
Four of the affected people belong to Karachi while thirteen patients belong to Quetta and all these patients are under treatment in different hospitals of Karachi.
Thirteen patients were transferred from Quetta to Karachi and are undergoing treatment in a private hospitals.
Medical professionals advised citizens to stay away from animals and slaughter animals wearing full-length clothes.
In this regard Dr. Saeed Talib said that generally, Congo virus patients are reported during Eid al-Adha and a tick on the skin of an animal transmits the virus to humans.
The new patient Abdul Bari, a resident of Gulshan Iqbal, has been admitted to Indus Hospital.
