Ex-PM Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz has talked about the troubles he was made to face in jail after the Musharraf coup in 1999.

Talking to the media person, he recalled his confinement at Attock Jail after the 1999 military coup.

“I spent time bearing with insects and louse in the cell, he said adding that he was denied the right to protect himself from extreme cold in winter

“We were in the prison and General Musharraf was in power,” he said.

Referring to the former minister Imran Khan’s imprisonment, Hussain stressed the need for refraining from cashing in on the plight of the rivals.

“We will not rejoice at the opponent's tough time,” Hussain Nawaz

Nawaz Sharif shrugged off a media query about the top court decision on the Supreme Court (Review of Judgements and Orders) Act 2023, saying he will talk later.

The three-judge bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Munib Akhtar pronounced the decision reserved on June 19 after six hearings spanning from June 7 to 19.

Terming the law contrary to the Constitution, the Supreme Court maintained that the law had no legal value and termed it “in conflict with the Constitution”. The apex court further stated that Parliament did not have the power to enact such legislation.
