Outgoing Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif expressed surprise at President Arif Alvi's hurry over the issue of a caretaker premier and said the matter will be decided by tomorrow.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the PM said this during his informal interaction with journalists in Islamabad on Friday.
The PM said the caretaker premier's decision will be taken tonight or tomorrow in a meeting with Opposition Leader Raja Riaz.
He said Opposition leader Raja Riaz will be met tomorrow if not tonight.
He raised a question what is the hurry to write the letter to President Arif Alvi? Before writing the letter, the President must read the Constitution, he added.
PM Shehbaz said if no decision is made within three days, the parliamentary committee will make a decision within the next three days and if the parliamentary committee also failed to decide the caretaker premier then the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will look into the matter.
The PM said he will consult with the allied parties' leadership tonight as they are called for a consultation meeting.
He strongly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government and former premier Imran Khan and said the former government damaged the country's economy as well as foreign relations.
He said the truth of the Cypher has come out in just two days now.
Shehbaz said the 16-month government of the coalition parties was the most difficult government as the relations with the United States had almost ended in the past which have now improved.
About the coordination with the army, the PM said the civil and military leadership has once again set the country on the path of development and the SIFC is a complete vision of national development.
