PTI’s Farooq Ahmed appointed as opposition leader in AJK assembly

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly Khawaja Farooq Ahmed has been appointed as the Leader of the Opposition, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The notification for his appointment as the Leader of the Opposition has been issued with the signatures of the assembly secretary.

He was appointed as the opposition leader under Rule 17(A) of the AJK Legislative Assembly rules.

Khawaja Farooq Ahmed also served as an acting prime minister after the disqualification of former AJK premier Sardar Tanveer Ilyas. He was also a senior minister in the government of Tanveer Ilyas.

Khawaja Farooq Ahmed has been active in practical politics for more than 30 years.

He has also been a two-time member of the AJK Legislative Assembly and a two-time minister.
