Android 15 expected release date, eligible devices, and new features for Motorola

Motorola has yet to announce the official release date for the Android 15 update for its devices.

Although Android 15 is fully developed and its source code has been uploaded to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Google has confirmed that Android 15 will be available in October, with the stable version expected to roll out in mid of month.

Google Pixel devices will be the first to receive the update followed by other brands like oneplus and realme. However, Motorola users may need to wait longer as recent updates from the company have been delayed.

Release Date:

Motorola’s Android 14 update started rolling out earlier this year, months after other brands completed their updates. A similar timeline is expected for Android 15, with Motorola devices likely receiving the update towards the end of the year or early next year.

Eligible Motorola Devices:

Sadly not all Motorola mobile device will be eligible for the update, here are some Motorola devices expected to receive the Android 15 update:

- Motorola Edge 50, Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Ultra, Edge 50 Fusion, Edge 50 Neo

- Motorola Edge 40 Pro, Edge 40 Neo, Edge 40, Edge 30 Ultra

- Motorola Edge (2024), Edge+ (2023), Edge (2023)

- Motorola Moto S50, Moto S50 Neo, Moto G85, Moto G Stylus 5G (2024)

- Motorola Moto X50 Ultra, Moto G64, Moto G55, Moto G45, Moto G35, Moto G04s

- Motorola Moto G Power (2024), Moto G (2024), Moto G24 Power, Moto G24, Moto G04

What are the Key Features of Android 15?

Android 15 doesn’t bring many visual changes, but it introduces several important new features such as theft detection lock that uses AI to lock the phone if it’s snatched from your hands, making it unusable without your google account details. Satellite connectivity allows sending and receiving messages without nearby cell towers and partial screen sharing feature lets you share a single app’s screen while keeping other data hidden that is useful for screen recording and privacy. In terms of privacy, private space feature allows users to hide and secure apps, videos , documents and other files . Android 15 also includes earthquake detection feature.
