Punjab govt to install CCTV cameras in prison barracks

Punjab Inspector-General of Jails Mian Farooq Nazir has said that 45 CCTV cameras will be installed in all jail barracks of Punjab. He said that these cameras will be installed in three phases, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He said that during the first phase CCTV cameras will be installed in central and high security jail barracks which will strengthen monitoring of barracks. He said that through these cameras movements of prisoners will also be monitored.

He further said that installations of CCTV cameras will also help shifting of ill prisoners from jail barracks to hospital. IGP said that complaints of theft will also be addressed and reduced after installation of these cameras.

Mian Farooq Nazir has said that a summary in this regard is also forwarded to Punjab government and after approval tender process will be started.
