In a significant development on the political landscape of Pakistan, Anwaarul Haq Kakar, hailing from the rugged terrains of Qila Saifullah in the Muslim Bagh district of Balochistan, has emerged as a prominent figure in the corridors of power. Nominated as the Caretaker Prime Minister, Kakar's journey from a private school in Quetta to the helm of the nation's leadership is a testament to his dedication and political acumen.

Kakar's educational trajectory laid the foundation for his illustrious career. Having completed his primary education in Quetta, he pursued higher studies in political science at the esteemed University of Balochistan. Notably, he augmented his expertise through participation in the security workshop of the National Defense University, demonstrating a keen interest in matters of national security.

Embarking on his political voyage in 2008, Kakar's maiden electoral endeavour saw him contesting under the banner of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q for the National Assembly seat NA 259 from Quetta. Despite his earnest efforts, victory eluded him. Undeterred by this setback, Kakar's dedication intensified, and his commitment to public service remained unwavering.

The political landscape of Balochistan experienced a transformational shift after the general elections of 2013. During the tenure of Nawab Sanaullah Zehri from the Pakistan Muslim League-N, Kakar's ascendancy continued as he assumed the mantle of the government's spokesperson. This pivotal role showcased his prowess in effectively communicating the government's policies and initiatives to the masses.

Kakar's influence extended beyond mere party affiliations. He played a pivotal role in the formation of the Balochistan Awami Party, a significant political entity that emerged prior to the 2018 elections. In a remarkable display of his popularity, Kakar secured victory in the general seat of the Senate as an independent candidate and later aligned himself with the Balochistan Awami Party, solidifying his position in the political arena.

Remarkably, Kakar's ascendancy to the role of Caretaker Prime Minister marks him as the second individual from Balochistan to hold this crucial position, with Mir Hazaar Khan Khosa being his predecessor. Kakar's rise to prominence is a testament to his tireless efforts in championing the cause of Balochistan on both the national and international stages.

A stalwart of the Balochistan Awami Party, Kakar's influence extends beyond his political affiliations. In 2018, he secured a senatorial seat and assumed the esteemed position of Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee of Overseas Pakistanis, highlighting his commitment to addressing the concerns of Pakistanis abroad.

Kakar's political journey bears the hallmark of resilience and adaptability. Having spent a considerable period as an overseas Pakistani in the United Kingdom, Kakar's foray into Balochistan's politics in 2008 marked a transformative juncture. His initial association with the Pakistan Muslim League-Q in 2008 was followed by active participation in the ranks of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, a testament to his evolving political beliefs.

Notably, Kakar's tenure as the spokesperson of Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri from 2015 to 2017 solidified his reputation as a skilled communicator and a bridge between the government and the people. However, it was in early 2018 that Kakar took on a pivotal role in the movement to overthrow the PML-N government in Balochistan. Spearheading a no-confidence motion against Nawab Zehri, Kakar's strategic manoeuvring led to his election as an independent senator, further cementing his political prowess.

Intriguingly, Kakar's political affiliations have seen a dynamic evolution. Presently, he is regarded as a close associate of Jam Kamal, a connection underscored by a recent political meeting that he held alongside Senior Vice President of PML-N, Maryam Nawaz, just last month.

Anwaarul Haq Kakar's trajectory from a private school in Quetta to the echelons of power is a captivating narrative of persistence, adaptability, and commitment to serving the people of Balochistan and Pakistan at large. His journey exemplifies the transformative potential of an individual driven by a resolute determination to bring positive change to his homeland. As Kakar assumes his role as Caretaker Prime Minister, all eyes are on his next steps and the impact he will leave on the nation's political landscape.
