In preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, Lahore Traffic Police has made a specialized traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety across the city, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, a dedicated traffic strategy has been devised under the guidance of the Chief Traffic Officer.

The traffic plan includes the deployment of a substantial workforce, comprising 24 traffic Wardens, assistants, and other personnel.

CTO Lahore Mustansar Feroze has said that barriers will be fixed at 255 different places with the cooperation of the district police. One-wheelers, racing, zig-zagging, and jockeying shall not be allowed and a zero-tolerance policy will be adopted against such miscreants.

Moreover, 55 Special Squads have also been formed, Jail vans will also be present at 11 main chocks to control rioters, he added.

For the convenience of the citizens, 06 breakdown units, and 25 people lifters have also been deployed, while one emergency squad will also be provided to all the DSPs for the immediate assistance of the citizens and the flow of traffic. Mustansar Feroze said that strict action will be taken against those who do one-wheeling, racing, zig-zag, halarbazi, and road blocking.

Temporary speed breakers and barriers will be installed on important and busy roads. Additional personnel have been deployed at 71 places including Huzoori Bagh, Greater Iqbal Park, Punjab Assembly, Liberty Market, Wagah Border, Awan-e- Iqbal, and Jilani Park.

Motorists will be diverted to service roads on Main Boulevard Gulbarg, Mall Road when the load increases. With the help of Safe City cameras, action will be taken by identifying those blocking the road. Mustansar Feroze said that the city traffic police will also celebrate independence like the citizens.

The main focus of the Lahore Traffic Police is to crack down on violations such as one-wheeling on motorcycles, reckless driving, and those with noisy silencers. CTO has emphasized the importance of upholding traffic laws during this period.

In particular, he has urged strict action against motorcyclists engaging in one-wheeling and those who alter their vehicles unlawfully. Mustansar has extended an appeal to parents, urging them not to permit their children to use one-wheeled motorcycles.

Legal measures will be taken against violators, and their motorcycles will be impounded at police stations, reinforcing the seriousness of the matter.

To keep citizens informed about the traffic situation, CTP Radio FM 88.6 will provide real-time updates on the roads. This initiative aims to create awareness and facilitate smoother traffic movement during the celebrations.
