In a significant development, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to investigate the 14-year-old housemaid Rizwana torture case has decided to investigate civil judge Asim Hafeez, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.   

A resident of Sargodha, Rizwana has been treated in Lahore General Hospital Lahore after she was allegedly tortured by her employers - a civil judge in Islamabad and his wife.

The federal government after widespread anger in the country over the torture of the minor maid constituted a 5-member joint investigating team (JIT) to probe the matter.

According to the sources, the JIT decided to summon the civil judge Asim Hafeez after the permission of the Lahore High Court.

The accused Somia Asim is the wife of the civil judge. She is behind the bar after a court order on August 7.
