Hailing the arrest of ex-spymaster, former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf minister Faisal Vawda has said the founder and his party will fall as ex-spymaster Faiz Hameed was the brain of PTI.

“The army has sent a message that the current leadership is honest. I congratulate the army chief, he has done what was impossible,” he said.

The former minister added: “In the coming days, the founder and the former ruling party will fall. All will become good children and PTI will be on the first list.”

He continued: “The army has its structure and procedure, its organization is strong. This is the beginning, many idols are yet to fall.

“The Top City scandal will expose many more names. The matter will not be limited only to corruption. Those who harmed Pakistan will be held accountable.

Those who supported May 9 will also be held accountable  This is a great decision for Pakistan. No one can hinder Pakistan’s growth.”

Sindh minister Saeed Ghani has said taking Faiz Hameed into military custody will dispel the impression that generals are free to do wrongdoings.

“The impression that there is no action against military generals who do wrong will disappear,” he said in reaction to the arrest of the former ISI chief.

“I don't know the details about the matter. However, the army stature will increase if the wrongdoer is brought to book,” he added.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has said it is the military’s internal matter.

“The army has a structure of its own. They can do whatever they want,” he added.

To a question, he said: “I don't think we have ever made such a demand against former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa.

“I do not remember that the founder of PTI also said any such thing against the former army chief.”

According to ISPR, former intelligence chief Faiz Hameed has been taken into military custody and the process for his court martial has been initiated in connection with the Top City housing scheme scandal,

“Complying with the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a detailed court of inquiry was undertaken by Pakistan Army, to ascertain the correctness of complaints in Top City case made against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (r),” said a press release issued by the military media wing.

It added: “Consequently, appropriate disciplinary action has been initiated against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd), under provisions of the Pakistan Army Act.”

“In addition, multiple instances of violation of the Pakistan Army Act post-retirement have also been established.

"The process of Field General Court Martial has been initiated and Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) has been taken into military custody.”
