The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has reportedly arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in connection with the Toshakhana and £190 million Al-Qadir Trust cases, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
The arrest was carried out at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, following orders from the Islamabad Accountability Court.
The arrest warrant for Imran Khan was issued in relation to the Toshakhana case, which had previously resulted in his disqualification from holding public office for a period of five years. The Al-Qadir Trust case, currently under investigation, involves allegations of corruption and abuse of authority. Imran Khan's wife has also been questioned in connection with this case.
Presiding over the court, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Judge Muhammad Bashir issued a two-page directive authorizing the arrest warrant. Subsequently, a team from NAB Rawalpindi, led by assistant directors Asif and Waqar-ul-Hassan, went to Adiala Jail to serve the arrest warrant. However, upon their arrival, Imran Khan reportedly refused to meet with the NAB team.
After a wait of one and a half hours, the NAB team executed the arrest warrant, which had been obtained from the court through the Superintendent of Adiala Jail. The Superintendent of the jail then carried out the process of arresting Imran Khan.
