The government has approved the launch of Metro Bus Service in Faisalabad. The Rs 70 billion initiative is aimed at providing the first large-scale public transportation system to the residents of the Faisalabad district.
The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has completed the initial planning, including detailed surveys and a comprehensive transport framework.
FDA Director General Chaudhry Muhammad Asif shared these details during a press briefing highlighting the importance of the project for the city’s growing population.
Last week, Punjab Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan, chaired a meeting in Lahore, where technical and administrative aspects of the project were discussed. The meeting was attended by officials from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and transport experts, who provided insights into the project’s design and operation.
The Metro Bus Service will cover three main routes: from Kamalpur Interchange to Samundri Road, Narwala Ada to Satiana Road, and Jhang Road to Jaranwala Road, with Red Crescent Chowk serving as a central point for all routes.
Also, the government has approved the introduction of 100 electric buses for the system, ensuring an eco-friendly solution for Faisalabad’s transport needs.
