A lady doctor of the National Institute of Child Health (NICH), Karachi, has been receiving salaries despite being absent for 12 years, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

In a letter to the Punjab health secretary, NICH grade-11 employee Zaryab said that Dr Imrana had been receiving salaries since 2009 despite being absent from duty.

“Dr Imrana was transferred from Civil Hospital to NICH,” the text of the letter read.

“The ghost doctor has caused a loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer,” it added.
