Many iPhone users who recently updated their devices to Apple’s iOS 18 are complaining about battery drain.

The new software update, released on September 17, 2024, has created frustration among users.

Some users reported their battery life draining rapidly with one saying, "My battery is dying before the blink of my eye,"

Many have noticed their battery percentage dropping quickly, even with minimal use.

Despite these complaints, some users have experienced no battery issues and are happy with the update.

A few praised IOS 18, saying it has improved their phone’s performance.

Apple has not officially commented on the battery issues, but experts suggest that temporary battery drain is common after installing a major update.

According to tech expert Adrian Kingsley-Hughes, Installing a new OS triggers background processes like indexing and recalibrating the battery, which can take hours or even days.

Here are the steps to fix battery issues:

  1. Check maximum battery capacity: Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health to check if your battery needs replacing.
  2. Turn off wifi assist: This feature can drain your battery by keeping the device connected when Wi-Fi is weak.
  3. Avoid overheating: Keep your iPhone away from extreme temperatures and remove certain cases while charging to prevent overheating.

The new iOS 18 update introduces exciting features like advanced home screen customization, a new Passwords app, and improved messaging options.

However, if battery drain continues it might be worth waiting for iOS 18.1 for further fixes.

It's available on iPhone XS (released in 2018) and newer models, including the iPhone 11, iPhone SE (second and third generation), and the new iPhone 16.

Apple's much-touted suite of AI features known as Apple Intelligence will only arrive with iOS 18.1, which is set to be available from next month.
