Polling in the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) elections had to be stopped on Sunday after the NADRA’s biometric system stopped functioning, making voting difficult, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Earlier, 24News reported that the field had been set for the elections of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and the voting process continued from 8 am to 5 pm, reported 24News HD TV channel on Sunday,

The election of the chairman, senior vice chairman, and four vice chairman will also be held, and voting will also be held for the election of 40 governing members of the Engineering Council.

As many as 155 polling stations were established across the country for the PEC elections.

There are 11 candidates for Chairman PEC, 12 candidates for Senior Vice Chairman, 10 candidates for Vice Chairman Punjab, and 10 candidates for Vice Chairman KP.

Moreover, five candidates are in the fray for Vice Chairman Sindh and Vice Chairman Balochistan.

The real competition for the chairmanship will be between Najeeb Haroon, Javed Qureshi, Wasim Nazir, and Ashfaq Shah.

More than 281,000 registered voters will exercise their right to vote.

A total of five polling stations were established in Islamabad, 17 in Karachi, 13 in Lahore, and six in Faisalabad.
